Valérie's Bio

Valerie is a registered occupational therapist with 26 years of experience working exclusively in pediatrics, supporting children and families across a wide range of ages, developmental profiles, and needs. She is passionate about helping children and youth engage in meaningful activities in ways that build confidence, independence, and authentic participation in daily life.

Her approach is strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming, and family-centred, with a focus on understanding each child’s unique way of experiencing, learning, and interacting with their environment. She values collaboration with families and teams to support participation in routines, play, self-care, and community life in ways that are practical, functional, and meaningful.

In addition to her clinical practice, Valerie has been a part-time professor at the University of Ottawa since 2016, where she contributes to the education and mentorship of future occupational therapists. This role informs her clinical work and reflects her commitment to collaborative, evidence-informed practice, with a focus on supporting strategies that integrate naturally into daily life while respecting each child’s individual ways of learning and engaging with the world.
